Internet Safety
Safer Internet Day - 7 February 2023
We celebrated Safer Internet Day in the school on Tuesday, 7 February 2023. Safer Internet Day (SID) is an EU wide initiative to promote a safer internet for all users, especially young people.
On the day, all the children from 1st to 6th Classes learned about how they can stay safe online. Our Digital Ambassadors, made up of 6th Class pupils in the school, promoted internet safety throughout the school and they delivered an online safety lesson to the 1st and 2nd Class pupils.
We ran two competitions in the school to mark Safer Internet Day; a colouring competition for the 1st and 2nd Classes and a poster competition for the senior pupils in the school. Photographs of the winning entries can be found below.
Internet Safety Guides
A key internet safety resource for parents is the Webwise Parents Hub. It provides free advice, information, and resources to ensure that your child makes the most of their time online. Their guide, "A Parents’ Guide to a Better Internet", provides information, advice and conversation starters about the benefits and risks children need to be aware of when using the internet. Please find a copy of this guide together with additional tips and guides from webwise.ie below.
