2nd Class: Numeracy

  • Develop mathematical language through everyday activities (how much more sugar do I need to add?, how many altogether?, He has less milk than your sister?, we can double/half the amount of flour, full, empty, half full, almost empty). Use the correct vocabulary for units of measurements.


  • Let children make their own dot to dot pictures by tracing over a picture and using number patterns where the dots are placed eg. Counting in 2’s, 3’s, 5’s, 10’s.



  • Play “I Spy“ with shapes in the environment (2D and 3D)


  • Encourage children to take notice of the time or tell the time.


  • Encourage children to accompany you to the shop and read some price tags/ sort coins to pay for products/ check their change.
