After much planning and liaising with Wicklow County Council, St Laurence’s Forest School took its first baby steps.
Thursday, 17 September 2020, dawned to a bright morning and, with great excitement, Room 11 pupils headed for the woods at the rear of the school, adjacent to the Black Walk.
Great fun was had, games were played and a little bit of craft-work engaged with, as the children became more acquainted with their outdoor classroom.
Since that inaugural day, things went from strength to strength with once weekly, three hour sessions, engaging in multiple cross-curricular activites.
Flight and Migration We tested out our model swallows
How to Light a Fire
How to Roast Marshmallows
Climbing and Balancing
Religion November we Remember
How to Build a Den
More than anything else we GREW in confidence through our connection with nature and learned how to look after ourselves, our classmates and our shared woodland.
