Energy Engineers

Mr. Pat Bunce's 5th Class, Room 19 exhibited their project "Energy Engineers" on Friday 13th January at the R.D.S. Primary Science Fair during the Young Scientist Exhibition 2012. The project was commended by the judges and the class received an award. The pupils worked with an engineer to prepare a C.E.R. (Certificate of Energy Rating) for the school. They worked in four groups;

• Apprentice Engineers
• Architects
• Scientists and
• Computer Experts

The project took into account all aspects of energy use and production in the school and with some maths they calculated the exact kw/h per m2 energy consumption of the building. They then went on to examine and experiment with ways to improve on this rating.

An excellent and fun day was had at the R.D.S. and we look forward to exhibiting there again in the future.
