Enrolment Procedure
Applications for Junior Infants are made on a Parish Application Form on a well-advertised date well in advance of each school year. The application form is available at the school office. Priority is given to children who are resident within the boundaries of the Parish of Holy Rosary and St. Killians. Applications for other class levels should be directly to the school. All prospective pupils and their parents are invited to meet the school principal and class teacher before entering the school.
Example
Enrolment for the Junior Infants who began school in September 2011 was undertaken during the first 2 weeks of November 2010.
The child's preference; 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice of school should be entered on the form. Application forms should be completed and returned to the school of first choice on or before the closing date. A copy of the child's birth or baptismal certificate should accompany the application.
The Board of Management have set the following criteria for enrolment to St. Laurence's:
1. Catholic children living in the parish and sisters and brothers of pupils in the school.
2. Other children resident in our Parish.
3. Children of Staff Members
4. Other children.
Other Criteria and Details
Only pupils who have reached the age of 4 years on their first day at school are eligible for enrolment. In the event that applications for enrolment exceed the number of places available in the school, places will be offered to the eldest of the applicants whilst observing the above criteria. Pupils who are not offered a place will receive a notification that their application has been passed on to the school of 2nd and 3rd choice, as necessary. Pupils who have already been in primary education and who wish to transfer to one of the parish schools should apply directly to any one of the school offices.
